1 July 2017, Department of Home Affairs introduced an additional pathway for New Zealand Citizen who were usually resident in Australia to apply for a new stream within the Skilled Independent (subclass 189) visa.
These new arrangements will give many New Zealand citizens permanent residence status, if they meet certain criteria.
Mr E and his partner both are New Zealand citizens and have been living in Australia since 2010. They contacted us after the introduction of this new visa pathway wanting to know about their eligibility.
We assessed Mr E’s documents against the legislative requirements and also provide information about de facto relationship requirements.
We provided a comprehensive checklist to Mr E so he could gather all the documentations needed for the visa application.
Mr E’s partner had minor criminal convictions in New Zealand and we assisted her in addressing the character declaration details as requested by case officer during the process.
We lodged the application on 12th October 2017 and the visas are granted on 22nd June 2018.
